Please view the video below for instructions on how to connect your device to WiFi (note that the video depicts a MyEye device):
Please note that your device needs to be connected to the wall charger to connect to WiFi.
- Open your internet browser and go to: https://www.orcam.com/en/wifiset/
- Enter your network name and password.
- Click on “Generate.”
- The system will now generate a QR code that will enable you to relay the WiFi credentials to your device.
-
Use your OrCam device to take a picture of the generated QR code
- On an OrCam MyEye, you can either tap the touch bar or use the pointing gesture (remember to remove your finger from in front of the QR code when you hear the double beep so the device can fully see the QR code)
- On an OrCam Read, we recommend using the arrow/laser pointer mode. Make sure that the laser is centered on the QR code.
- Your device will now connect to the WiFi and will reconnect automatically every time you connect your device to the wall charger, provided it is within range of the WiFi network.
- If there are any software updates available, your device will automatically download them.
Reasons why one would connect to WiFi
Connecting to WiFi is not necessary to operate the device.
a. On the MyEye, if you're already running the latest software version, being connected to WiFi will enable the What's In Front Of Me feature. Besides this, the only reason to connect your device to WiFi is to ensure you have the latest software updates.
b. On the Read, the only reason to connect your device to WiFi is to ensure you have the latest software updates.
Limitations on MyEye connectivity
Please note that MyEye devices only support 2.4 Ghz WiFi and currently do not support 5 Ghz WiFi. Please contact your internet service provider for details about your WiFi network frequency.
