If your OrCam MyEye is having trouble reading text, make sure the following conditions are met to ensure the device can capture a high-quality image.
1. Ensure Proper Camera Position
- The camera lens must be directly facing the text.
- Make sure the lens is clean and unobstructed. You can gently wipe the lens using the microfiber cleaning cloth that comes with your MyEye.
- The device can only read text that is within the camera’s field of view.
2. Keep the Text at the Correct Angle
- The text should be positioned at a 90-degree angle to the camera.
- If the user’s neck is bent too far forward, the device may misread the text and announce that it is upside down.
3. Check the Lighting
- Good lighting is essential.
- Even during daylight, we recommend turning on as many lights as possible to improve visibility.
4. Align the Text With the User’s Face
- The device is calibrated to read text that is aligned with the center of the user’s face, roughly in line with the chin and nose.
5. Keep the Text and Head Still
- The user should hold the text steady and avoid moving their head while the device takes the picture.
- If this is difficult, using a book stand can help stabilize the material.
